Current limits
One fact macOS does not report. When a monitor offers several pixel encodings at the same timing, macOS has no value that names the one in use right now. The app then gives an answer for full RGB that is labelled as calculated from the modes on offer, not as measured.
- Intel Macs and macOS versions before 26 are not supported.
- Wireless displays such as AirPlay are listed but cannot be diagnosed.
- The built-in display is shown for information only.
- Monitor-menu traps, such as a monitor left in a slower DisplayPort or HDMI mode, are flagged as calculated, never as measured fact.
- Some fixes that need private system access, such as forcing RGB or editing a monitor's identity data, are not offered in the App Store edition. The Troubleshoot tab shows them with the label "Needs the direct-download edition".
- Some reset steps cannot be run by the app at all, for example a monitor's factory reset. They are listed in the Troubleshoot tab as steps for you to do by hand.
